Sekadau, 1-3 Mei 2026.
Peran inKUR: Membantu Merumuskan, Bukan Mendikte
Output akhirnya pun jelas batasannya. Workshop menghasilkan concept note, bukan keputusan eksekusi.

Sekadau, 1-3 May 2026. For three days at Lupung Cafe, inKUR (the National Federation of People-based Cooperative Enterprises of Indonesia) and Koperasi Keling Kumang Agro (KKA) sat down together for a working workshop. The agenda was concrete: to formulate two agribusiness unit concepts for KKA, namely a palm sugar unit under the Enauku brand and a cocoa plantation unit that will connect to inKUR’s fermented cocoa supply chain.
The workshop did not start from zero. KKA already holds a fairly mature foundation: the Enauku brand carries BPOM, Halal, and PIRT certifications, and its members’ cocoa orchards are ready to enter inKUR’s fermented cocoa pipeline. What was still missing was a complete, structured, and executable operational concept. The three days in Sekadau were designed precisely to fill that gap.
inKUR’s Role: Helping to Formulate, Not Dictating
From the start, inKUR’s position in the workshop was framed as that of an accompanying partner helping KKA articulate the concepts, not a party deciding for them. inKUR brought two things to the table: cross-cooperative experience from its network, and the framework of the fermented cocoa supply chain it is building together with its downstream partner Kalara Borneo.
The boundaries of the output were also clear. The workshop produced concept notes, not execution decisions. Whether, when, and how each concept is to be carried out remains entirely within the authority of the KKA Board.
Palm Sugar / Enauku Unit: Restructuring an Existing Operation
Enauku has been operating since 2022 with a base of partner palm sugar farmers and a product line covering solid palm sugar and botanical beverages. BPOM, Halal, and PIRT licenses are already in hand. What was jointly formulated in the workshop was an operational scheme to translate that foundation into a financially healthy unit.
Several principles were agreed: selling prices to loyal customers in Sintang will not be raised; profitability will instead be built through a shift in the production mix, product variant diversification, humane B2B field sales, and the development of white label services as the revenue backbone. Online channels will be kept active as supporting channels, not the main target. A professional website on the enauku.id domain was proposed as a brand showcase and a bridge for B2B / white label inquiries.
Cocoa Plantation Unit: Building a New Node in the Fermentation Chain
The second unit formulated is the Cocoa Plantation Business Unit, which will be built from the ground up at KKA. Its scope: accompanying members’ orchards, purchasing cocoa pods and wet beans, fermentation, and selling dried beans to Kalara Borneo as the downstream partner.
The unit will operate within the framework of inKUR’s fermented cocoa programme, with the primary quality targets being Grade I and Grade II, whose prices sit well above purchase cost. The workshop discussed the workflow, the discipline of the fermentation SOP as the key profitability driver, the mapping of bean pickup routes from members’ orchards, and the blueprint for the field and post-harvest teams. Its productivity assumptions were laid out in three scenarios: a cautious case, a stable case as the year-one target, and a full-scale case as the long-term target.
One Common Foundation for Both Units
Beyond the different characters of these two units, there is one foundational prerequisite that applies to both: the separation of bookkeeping between KKA’s business units, namely Palm Sugar, Cocoa, and the Seedling Nursery. Without this separation, the profitability of each unit cannot be evaluated accurately, and access to KUR financing as well as investor confidence becomes less clean.
The workshop’s message at this point is straightforward: a good business concept stands on tidy bookkeeping. There is no point designing revenue targets or profit projections if the unit is still mixed into a single ledger with another.
KKA’s Position in the West Kalimantan Cocoa Ecosystem
KKA’s Cocoa Plantation Unit will not stand alone. It enters the architecture of West Kalimantan’s cocoa supply chain that is being woven together by several inKUR member cooperatives. Keling Kumang Agro upstream with its seedling nursery and orchard accompaniment, Bina Tapang Mandiri with accompaniment and bean aggregation, MK Agro which will soon join inKUR as a member in 2026 playing a similar role in new areas, and Kalara Borneo downstream as the bean-to-bar chocolate house.
Strengthening the cocoa unit at KKA, alongside the already running Enauku palm sugar unit, places KKA as one of the most productive agribusiness nodes within inKUR’s membership.
After the Workshop, the Ball Is in KKA’s Court
The two concept notes produced from the workshop have been handed over to the KKA Board to be studied, discussed, and decided upon. inKUR positions itself as ready to be called back whenever the Board needs further clarification on specific points from the concepts that have been formulated.
The Sekadau workshop is one expression of inKUR’s role as a federation of cooperatives: showing up when a member cooperative needs a shared working space, bringing the framework and experience of the network, and then handing the decision back to the board of the cooperative concerned. This has been the pattern of how inKUR works with its 18 member KSR across 4 provinces: West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Lampung, and Maluku, since being legally established as Induk Koperasi Usaha Rakyat (inKUR) in May 2017.
The inKUR and KKA workshop, 1-3 May 2026, at Lupung Cafe, Sekadau, was attended by Paulus Ohio (Chief Executive Officer of inKUR), Itoi Thomas Aquino of Koperasi Keling Kumang Agro, together with the teams from both parties.
